FROM A CUSTOMER IN ALMA
My husband and I met with 4 companies. Three of them did similar presentations that ended with "today only" prices for water softeners and gadgets priced between $7k and $8k, but we had to buy THEN. John was adamant about knowing exactly what was in our water first, before any prices or guesses. Yes, it took RenewMyWater 2 visits with all the testing, but they identified that our REAL issues went far beyond hard water. They had our system installed just 4 days later. Our water isn't just wonderful; we actually FEEL BETTER than we ever have in this home! And are you ready for this? The price was substantially less. It may sound cheesy, but to us the CHOICE was CLEAR. And we will NEVER again be forced to drink nasty bottled water. Yes, we recommend RenewMyWater.

A PROMISE FROM OUR COMPANY

RenewMyWater
Best Deal
Guarantee.

Our Best Deal Guarantee isn't a promise to be the cheapest. It's a promise to build the right system for your exact water and compare the full value—not just the sticker price. Bring a written quote from one of the big names so we can compare treatment, capacity and installed cost.

A big-box softener may cost less, but a conventional softener on its own treats hardness. It doesn't establish protection from everything else that may be in your water.

WHEN YOU WANT TO GO DEEPER

Water facts & treatment details

What might be in water that looks clear?

PFAS, arsenic and lead require specific analysis. Michigan's water history is serious, but your home's answers come from testing—not its ZIP code or appearance.

Industrial compoundsPFAS+

Michigan has documented PFAS in water supplies. Research links certain exposures with cholesterol changes, reduced vaccine antibody responses and some cancers; associations are not an individual diagnosis. A hardness test does not measure PFAS.

ATSDR · PFAS health researchMichigan EGLE · Documented PFAS findings
Naturally occurringArsenic+

Arsenic can dissolve into Michigan groundwater without changing its appearance or taste. Long-term inorganic arsenic exposure can increase cancer risk. Arsenic-specific lab analysis is the starting point—not a basic softener.

ATSDR · Arsenic and healthMichigan EGLE · Arsenic in well water
Groundwater + plumbingLead & metals+

Lead can enter water from service lines and household plumbing. No safe blood lead level has been identified for young children. Metals require their own tests; a utility report does not measure every home's plumbing.

EPA · Lead in drinking water
Well integrity mattersBacteria+

Michigan recommends annual private-well coliform and E. coli testing. E. coli can indicate fecal contamination. A softener is not a disinfection system; source investigation and follow-up testing may be needed.

CDC · Testing well waterMichigan MDHHS · Water testing guidance
Runoff + other sourcesNitrate & pesticides+

Fertilizer, animal waste and septic sources can contribute to nitrate. High nitrate can impair oxygen transport, especially in infants. Pesticide risk depends on the chemical and concentration; ask which analytes a panel includes.

EPA · Drinking-water contaminant limitsNPIC · Pesticides and drinking water
Michigan's industrial historyPBBs+

Michigan's 1973–74 PBB disaster contaminated the food chain. It does not establish PBBs in today's household taps. Historical exposure and current water testing are different questions; targeted analysis depends on site history.

Michigan MDHHS · PBB history

Tests must name their analytes; every panel does not cover every chemical. Health effects depend on exposure. For health concerns, talk with your doctor.

What can cause odors, stains and scale?

Iron, hydrogen sulfide, bacteria and hardness are different questions. Odor may even come from a water heater. Identifying the source matters when choosing treatment.

EPA · Staining, taste and nuisance chemicalsMichigan EGLE · Hydrogen sulfide

What should I compare in a written quote?

Look for the exact equipment model, its treatment claims, sizing and installation costs. Include maintenance, replacement media and warranty requirements. For financing, compare APR, term and total repayment—not just the monthly payment.

How does treatment affect water flow?

Rated service flow, pressure drop and incoming conditions matter more than a headline maximum. Your home's demand and water chemistry help determine suitable treatment capacity. A softener, whole-house filter, RO drinking-water system and bacteria-treatment system have different jobs.

NSF · Contaminant-specific certification
CLEAR ANSWERS FOR YOUR NEXT STEP

Your water questions, answered.

Testing, treatment, pricing and what to expect. Open any question for the details.

Is my well water safe to drink in Michigan?

Clear appearance and a normal taste cannot establish whether your well water is safe to drink. Appropriate testing measures the contaminants included in the test panel; a hardness check alone does not answer that question.

Michigan recommends annual well testing for coliform bacteria, E. coli, nitrate and nitrite, and PFAS testing at least once. Additional tests depend on the water source, site history and household needs. Follow local health guidance for a positive result or water advisory.

Michigan MDHHS · Water testing guidance

Does a water softener remove PFAS?

A conventional hardness softener is not a PFAS-treatment system. PFAS reduction requires the right treatment technology and a claim for the exact product and compounds involved.

Specialized media, carbon filtration and reverse osmosis may address particular PFAS under specified conditions. Check the exact model, reduction claim, capacity and maintenance schedule rather than relying on the word 'filter' or a generic certification.

NSF · Contaminant-specific certification

How much does a whole-house water filter cost?

Our November special for a whole-house softener with reverse osmosis drinking water is $2,900 with standard installation and ends November 28, 2026. Other filtration needs are quoted based on the findings and installation requirements.

Standard installation requires existing to-code plumbing in good condition and a nearby drain. If additional work is required, we tell you upfront. No surprises. Lifetime warranty requires an active service plan; see written terms. National-brand figures are based on written quotes for comparable softener + RO systems and vary by home. Installation is by a licensed plumber. Financing is available; review maintenance costs and any financing APR, term and total repayment in the written quote. A softener, whole-house filter and drinking-water RO system have different jobs.

What do you test for at the home visit?

Your free on-site screening includes hardness, iron, manganese, hydrogen sulfide, pH, total dissolved solids, chlorine. We also check your plumbing and water flow, explain the findings and give you a clear plan before we leave.

Deeper independent-lab testing is available if your results call for it. Each independent-lab panel is priced individually. We’ll explain any additional independent-lab fees needed up front, before you decide. The on-site test is a screening; the independent lab report is a broader analysis. Some bacterial analyses require incubation and are not an immediate result. We identify appropriate lab analyses rather than claiming that the screening measures PFAS, arsenic, lead or every contaminant.

Do I have to wait for the lab before buying a system?

No. If your on-site results clearly call for a system, you can choose at the visit, and lab testing can follow if needed. Each independent-lab panel is priced individually; we explain the price before you decide.

You can also choose to wait. An initial softener, RO or bacteria-treatment recommendation is for the issue it is designed to address; it does not establish that every possible contaminant has been treated.

How long does the independent water testing take?

3-7 days.

If you choose independent-lab testing, each panel is priced individually before you decide. Your on-site checks provide an earlier starting point. We review authorized lab findings with you, check any installed equipment and discuss additional treatment only if indicated.

Do you offer financing or next-day installation?

Yes, RenewMyWater offers financing and monthly plans to fit most budgets. Installation can be as soon as one day on select RenewMyWater machines, subject to model availability, site requirements and scheduling.

Your quote explains the proposed equipment, installation timing and financing terms. Next-day installation is not available for every system or property.

What does a water test cost?

Your on-site screening is free. If it shows your water needs deeper testing, each independent-lab panel is priced individually, and we’ll explain the price up front, before you decide.

There’s no obligation to buy. We’ll explain any additional independent-lab fees needed up front, before you decide. The free visit provides on-site screening findings and a plan for your water. For independent-lab testing you choose, timing is 3-7 days. Some bacteria analyses require incubation rather than an immediate result.

Should I test city water at my tap?

Start with your supplier's Consumer Confidence Report and available contaminant results. Household plumbing can contribute lead after water leaves the utility, so tap-specific testing can answer a different question.

Your plumbing age, source water and the outlet being sampled can affect the testing discussion. Follow the laboratory's sampling instructions for the contaminant in question.

EPA · Lead in drinking water

Does it matter who lives in the home?

Yes. Infants, pregnant people and people with weakened immune systems can have different water-testing considerations, so tell us privately when discussing the appropriate tests. For health concerns, talk with your doctor.

Nitrate is an important example for infants: high levels can impair the blood's ability to carry oxygen. This is a reason to discuss suitable tests, not a diagnosis of your household water or anyone's health.

EPA · Drinking-water contaminant limits

What warranty comes with my system?

100% full replacement lifetime warranty available on all RenewMyWater systems. Full details available upon request. Lifetime warranty requires an active service plan; see written terms.

Service-plan coverage—ask a representative for full plan eligibility, maintenance requirements, and exclusions. Review the written warranty agreement before purchasing. Equipment replacement coverage does not establish that every contaminant is absent or guarantee a health outcome.

Where does RenewMyWater provide water treatment?

RenewMyWater serves Mid-Michigan. We confirm your address's coverage and appointment availability when scheduling.

The service area is an appointment-availability statement, not a map of contamination. Michigan-wide educational information does not imply that every city is in our installation area.

Does a hardness test tell me whether my water is safe?

No. Hardness primarily measures calcium and magnesium; it does not establish that your water is safe. PFAS, arsenic, lead, bacteria, nitrate and pesticides require appropriate, specific analysis.

A hardness result helps discuss scale and softening. It is one measurement, not a complete chemical or microbial panel; confirm which contaminants are included in the laboratory tests selected for your water.

USGS · Hardness is a mineral measurement

Can one water filter remove every contaminant?

No generic filter or certification establishes removal of everything. Whole-house filtration, softeners, reverse osmosis and disinfection have different jobs, so the solution needs to match the findings for your water.

Check the exact model, its named contaminant-reduction claims, operating conditions, capacity and maintenance schedule. A certification for one reduction claim is not evidence of protection from all contaminants.

NSF · Contaminant-specific certification
